“I have been experimenting with [Multigraph]
and have had very good success with both rotary and laser engraving. I see
it as a plus in industrial and outdoor applications where the improved
weatherability and scratch resistance is important.
On my 30 watt ULS VersaLaser, I found I was able to use the same settings as
I do for my other plastics with the exception of needing the second pass as
you indicated for the cutout. These settings are somewhat lower than the
settings you had listed. Vector cutting with the mask on is definitely
needed due to the increased residue deposited on the material during this
process. I ran some badges and tags that have both fine detail and wider
routed areas and the detail was excellent with very smooth large area
routing also.
The engraving quality on my Vision rotary system was also very good, both in
fine detail and in larger routed areas. Cutting out with a cutter beveler on
the engraver was very clean, with no need for a second clean-up pass as I
have on some materials. I saw no evidence of any shadowing from the nose
cone. Engraving depth of .003 worked beautifully.” |
